IVY SUBSTATION, MEDIA PARK

BUILT IN 1907, the Ivy Substation formerly housed power equipment for the Red Car rail line along Venice Blvd. Today it provides a 99-seat theater for a resident company named the Actors’ Gang. As part of a landscape renovation, dense foundation plantings were replaced with a drought tolerant plant palette, selected to enhance the Mission Revival style architecture and existing mature Canary Island Palms. Blooming Aloe Vera provides a boost of color at the tall arched entry.
