Preserving the monarch butterfly was the main thrust behind creating this wild California native garden. A decomposed granite path winds its way through pollinator friendly plantings and ornamental grasses, showcasing milkweed essential for promoting the lifecycle of the endangered species. A small nook defined by a low concrete seat wall was designed to draw the residents into the garden to enjoy the habitat. Burgundy redbud and podocarpus create a lush & bold backdrop while the pink flowering Tabebuia serves as a focal point from the main patio. In a shady corner of the garden, native coral bells, ferns and clivia surround a clay sculpture, made by the sculptor homeowner herself.
